Artist Bio
It wasn’t until he surprised his father-in-law by gifting him a family art lesson at Tamborine Mountain, that John Rodriquez started to truly understand the power of making art himself, and how much his creative pursuits really meant to him.
Constantly exploring different media and styles, John’s artwork began to take shape. His works are strongly influenced by a love of New Age concepts, indigenous cultures and spiritual philosophies. However, John’s creativity is not limited to one dimension. He has found that his music plays an integral part in his creative process, often writing songs or poetry and creating artworks in an integrated process. After seeing a TED talk by Emilie Wapnick he came to the realisation that he is a true multipotentialite!
John enjoys expressing himself in ways that reflect influences from impressionism, post impressionism and his love of abstraction, because he can’t pre-think it! He is developing a unique style that conveys healing energy, often through a combination of music, words and stylised imagery created through the use of texture.
His artwork has been exhibited at the Art & Design Precinct, The Melting Pot, Logan Art Gallery, State Library Queensland Gallery and the LAA Abel Gallery.
Born in Sydney, John is a classically trained pianist, a Reiki practitioner with a Diploma in Meditation Instruction and a qualified facilitator of SoulCollage® sessions. Having trained as a Creatively Fit™ coach, he is passionate about working with groups and individuals to explore their creativity. The work he does in this space is especially geared to “non-artists” as he guides them to play in a safe space with no focus on the outcome. It is all about enjoying the process and experiencing the deep inner healing and personal growth that comes as a result of doing this.
John has had the good fortune to learn with Irena Kirpichnikova http://www.awaken-creativity.com/ (Art Inspirationalist) and Jessica Serran https://jessicaserran.com/ (Artist and Leader of the Becoming Artist Movement.) John’s music has been twice awarded runner up for International Song of the Year and he has released his own CD “Sing for Joy.”
Supporters of John’s work include healing professionals who have advised that his works help to raise the healing energy in their practice rooms.
