Artist Statement

All my life, I could never shake the feeling that I was born to create.

I’ve always been fascinated by how the mind effortlessly fills in the gaps that the eye doesn’t see and how we can make meaning out of colour, abstract form and impressions, relating these to our own perceptions and life experiences.

I enjoy using a wide variety of materials (soft pastels, acrylics, watercolours, gouache, oil pastels, charcoal, well…anything really!) These are supplemented by using a variety of mediums, gels, pastes and recycled materials to create interesting textures to capture light and form. I find new ways for viewers to connect with my artworks to deepen their visceral experience, sometimes including mirrors and often augmenting with a poem or song I have penned to partner with the artwork or vice versa.

Strongly guided by intuition, my love of New Age and indigenous music and spiritual philosophies show their way through my work. I am particularly influenced by the work of the great impressionists and post-impressionists and have new-found love for abstraction. Some have said that my music is indicative of Celtic roots.
